MizzFonky : flickr pool contest winner
[Winning image from our Flicrk pool, by MizzFonky]
I enjoy checking our little pool of images each day, and seeing what the readers (and just random flickr folks) have shot and put into the the pool. Our little group has gotten bigger since its birth a month ago, so we decided to create a prize of it’s own this time. Nadine Perreman, aka MizzFonky, a photographer from Belgium, has a dreamy ethereal quality to her Holga, Lomo and Diana images.. soft colors and images that seem to float around with ease. While narrowing down the contest images, we had actually grabbed two from her that were quite different, it wasn’t until we checked the names on the images that we realized they were both from the same photographer.
Take a few minutes and check out her images and blog, you will enjoy them and get a chance to see very innovative uses of Toy Cameras. Here are a few words from our winner:
Why toy cameras, and what inspires you when you are using a toy camera?
Toycameras are light in weight because of the plastic material, they produce nice vignette (leave the mask out!) and after 12 or 16 frames you can already develop them! Seeing beautiful images of fellow toycam users makes me want to go out and shoot.
Is your process for shooting with a toy camera different then shooting with a traditional one?
Not quite different then my lomo lc-a, maybe only one thing, that the toycamera captures less light. When shooting a 100 asa film I have to pay attention on the light or darkness. I mostly shoot outside with my toycams, and have a colorsplash with me for shadows or darker days.
What subjects most inspire you when shooting with a toy camera?
As a tourist on a trip, I’m a analogue shooter with my toycameras and other lomos. I like to shoot action, like a child playing, or strange subject and unusual things. If there’s nothing special happening around me, I like to shoot landscapes and buildings. As long as I think the vignette will come out good.
