Who says 110 is dead? Sure, they don’t actually make it anymore, and it is getting tough to find, but the format that was so loved decades ago is still a viable format. I was wondering around China Town in NYC and caught up with some of the locals to grab a few snaps…

The Art of waiting’s photobooth contest is on!

If you appreciate the feel of a real picture made from something other than a series of zeros and ones, and yearn for the sometimes awkward experience and always patience-trying process of creating an analogue photo you might be interested in the Art of Waiting. This project dwells on the concept of waiting and features a seasonal contest every, well, season. The summer contest is a nostalgic, analogue, and creative dance with the iconic photobooth.

Do you sit still in each frame, hoping you’re getting your hair and smile just right? Do you try to show a different side of your personality in each frame? Do you swap places with a friend, bring in props, prepare a story board for every $4 you spend? No matter how you treat your photobooth experience, Jeff Nachtigall at “the Art of Waiting” wants to see your photostrips!

All you need to do is find an old school wet chemistry analogue dip and dunk photobooth, make a strip of photos (or two or twenty!), wait for the requisite three minutes, and mail it all in to the Art of Waiting by the end of August! Full contest details are available Here!

the yunon dx-3… it works?!

Yes, this is what came back from my first roll through my new-to-me Yunon DX-3. Guessing it was a sticky shutter or a winder that was not quite in tune with the frames.. but I had already re-loaded it when I got the first roll back, so I thought I would just shoot it out for the hell of it…

Yes, it’s been a few days since we’ve had a chance to update the blog, and there are a few good reasons… we’ve been working overtime on some new and really exciting features for Four Corner Store. We can’t announce them all yet, but we promise you that you are going to be quite happy! (cough *lower prices* cough *new products* cough *cheaper shipping*) Ok, so we’ll give away a little bit.. but the biggest change will be the way you buy the cameras, and let’s just say it’s about to get a whole lot easier.

We are also going to merge the Four Corners Dark twitter with the Four Corner Store Twitter, so if you follow the blog’s twitter make sure you click ‘follow’ on the Store’s twitter. (We’ll be closing the blog’s twitter) All announcements and discount codes, ect will be on that account. Also be our friend on Facebook, (and you should be already!) for product announcements and more.

We’re really happy with how Version 2.o of the Store is coming along, and we thank you for all of the support you’ve given us. We’ve come quite a long way in our first year, and our success is all due to our great customers. Who would have thought a year ago that our little store would be featured in InStyle Magazine, Teen Vogue and this month in Martha Steward Living! Just goes to show that film is not dead, but alive and growing, and what started out as a little Toy Camera shop is growing by the day!

We received a bunch of Holga keychains for the store, and of course I took one for myself. Aside from the great little model Holga, there was a great booklet on the history of the Holga 120. Here is a transcript of that booklet, (with a few adjustments made for translation..) Quite a nice little read!

new york city in 110 : part one

On the last trip to NYC, I decided to shoot only 110 film. My cameras of choice? Ikimono’s, Holga Micro’s, Demekin’s and my favorite 110 of all time, the Pentax Auto 110 SLR. Yes, the Pentax is not a toy camera. It has beautiful 2.8 lenses, and auto exposure. But you have to just love it’s little SLR feel, sound and results. It’s a great camera for any collector, so go to eBay and pick one up, you won’t regret it!
